 Carry on, on my trip into week 2

Travelling to Oban for a ferry trip over to the the Isle of Mull for a wildlife trip around the island

A walk along the Caledonian canal,

This amazing feat of engineering raises the canal by 19m (62ft) over a quarter of a mile of continuous masonry and takes around 90 minutes for a boat to travel up or down the locks

Bits of Scotland May 2026 week one

 I have not had time to catch up with the blog recently, suppose that what comes of working full time and wanting to be out and about in any spare minutes i have, visiting places and seeing all the wonderful sights

Had a holiday for two weeks in Scotland in May, a favourite place i love to stay in the area around Onich/Glencoe and Fortwilliam. Saw some family too, which was great

Had some wonderful days, saw wonderful things, hard to pick any favourites as there were so many

Hard choices but a few here, 

Arrival day, Beautiful drive through Glencoe and the evening sunset

The next day saw some amazing reflections

A visit to Loch Shiel

A hike up to the beautiful Steal waterfall, used in some of the Harry Potter films

Still has snow on the beautiful Ben Nevis

To a totally different spring time feel at Silver sands

Pretty much the first week, as you can see Scotland is so diverse for landscape and vibes

W/C 27/04/26

 Rather a busy work week in the accounts office, with the build up to month end, Friday 1st was fast approaching when the department would be very busy, there would also be a bank holiday on the 4th just to spice things up a bit.

But a nice weekend to look forward to, with my daughter and granddaughter coming to spend a couple of days. Hoping the weather would be kind.

Saturday we had a plan of a visit to Kingsbury water Park, nice place for some fresh air and a bit of gentle walking, also hoping to get a bit of a family photo shoot

Beautiful place for a nice easy walk around the ponds, along with all the beautiful birds that live there

It was a very nice place too for some family photos

After the water park we called into Middleton Lakes @rspb which was on the way home for another little walk and see if there was any wildlife about, it was quite quiet on that score but the weather was beautiful and some beautiful spring nature vibes, seeing the ducklings

Back home for a nice restful evening, before a visit to the National memorial arboretum at Alrewas, bit of grey in the skies but there were some beautiful colourful sights on the walk around and by the river, nature is wonderful for that

After a picnic for lunch, we dropped the ladies off at the train station for their trip home

as for me it was an evening of rest, youngsters have the knack of wearing you out, wonderful weekend to end the week
