Travel adventure of the week 07.03.26

Included in this week was a very special birthday...Mine lol, everyone is a bonus and pleased to have them, a thing i have learned as i have got older, just how special my birthday's are. It was a day spent at work, but my work colleagues were very nice to me, month end in accounts, so lots of work to do.

Had some lovely gifts and flowers from my family too. One i cant claim till the end of May, a falconry private experience photo day, i will really have to up my game for that one!!

Saturday was my day out and to include a meal, weather was not terrific and due to other commitments, i could not go too far for the weekend, had been recommended the National Memorial Arboretum  as a place to visit and this day seemed to be good for it, after the last attempt was cancelled due to flooding a few weeks back. Arrived for opening at 10am, relatively large car park, all the staff, many who are volunteers, were very friendly, extremely knowledgably, we were made to feel very welcome.

Armed with a nice free map, off we went on our walk

A beautiful and inspiring place, the 150-acres of the Arboretum form a living landscape, a home for more than 400 memorials waiting to be discovered.

The National Memorial Arboretum is a British site of national remembrance at Alrewas, near LichfieldStaffordshire, England. Its objective is to honour the fallen, recognise service and sacrifice, and foster pride in His Majesty's Armed Forces and the associated civilian community

It is a nice flat walk, so very kind on my now a year older legs :)

Beautiful signs of spring with the smaller memorials dotted about in and around them, nothing was crowded, lots of nice space to experience and see them all

I can now see why it had flooded, walking along the river, it was still quite high but how much more water it had to have to burst those banks, scary thoughts!!

There was so much wildlife around, i think everything was feeling the spring vibes

The Lichen on the trees was also ready for spring and looking very healthy

Wonderful day, lots of fresh air and beautiful sights to witness, it was very peaceful, very poignant and for all the sacrifices that had been made, it made me feel very privileged and very alive.

Enjoyed a nice warm coffee in the restaurant, bought my fridge magnet, i now have more fridge magnets than fridge spaces, of places i visit and ones from friends and family of places they go to as well, i love collecting them

Onwards now for a well earned birthday meal to round the adventure off for that week
