W/C 06/04/26 part one

Easter Monday and a bank holiday was the start of this week, makes a nice change to start the week not on a work day, i am finishing of my little holiday to Plymouth in Devon spending time with my sister.

Today will be a day to travel back to the Midlands with my husband, the decision was do we get up early and head straight back? to try and get better traffic conditions [never good travelling on a bank holiday] or take the chance and travel back later and spend the day in the wonderful south-west of England, the weather looked wonderful so no contest really.

One of my favourites nibbles from the south-west is a pasty, i adore the traditional Cornish pasty but there is another sort i had plenty of growing up, it is one called an Ivor Dewdney, very specific to the area, maybe not to everyone's taste but it was on the cards for breakfast.

The shop opened at ten, so we were outside at ten to ten lol, suitably refreshed, it was then on to a trip to Mount Edgecombe in Cornwall, this would be by way of a passenger ferry from the Royal William Boat yard

Maybe 15 mins to get over, looked like it was going to be a busy day, there were so many people on the ferry no room to move but at least it stayed afloat.

Once we had disembarked on the Cornwall side of the river Tamar, it was a beautiful walk around the grounds and up to Mount Edgecombe house

From there is a wonderful walk up a bit further to what they call the Folly, it has my favourite bench to sit and look across the river to Plymouth and just breathe and enjoy being able to do this.

Lunch time was now approaching and there is a wonderful café there, if you every visit try the triple cooked chips, if nothing else, they are absolutely amazing
Then back down the hill to get the ferry back over, head back to my sisters and think about making the journey home

The journey home had a few hold ups, but nothing like it could have been, about four and a half hours, i have heard tales of it taking up to nine on some days, home safely, not much unpacking done as it was sleep and then work for the rest of the week.
