Dudley Zoo have Carko and Ember, they are the Zoo's most popular creatures, they are part of a European Endangered Species breeding Programme (EEP), which aims to conserve a "healthy population" of animals in captivity.
Staff transformed their hillside habitat, building a new large, wooden climbing frame, nesting boxes, an indoor on-show house, as well as installing new fencing, signage and glass windows around a redeveloped public viewing area, which the pandas are making great use of, they seem pretty content and it has been really wonderful so see them so active on my past visits
Red pandas are classed as endangered in their native regions in China, Nepal, and Bhutan, where species numbers have halved in the last twenty years as a result of habitat loss, climate change and being hunted for the pet trade.
