Waking up on a Sunday morning 08.02.26, hoping the weather forecast was correct and there was going to be no rain today, it was looking good.
Going to to try to attempt a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, it is by the river Trent and has some water features, looking for a Kingfisher to photo, top of my list for this year. Hoping there was no after affect to all the rain, Very wrong!!!
We turned off the main road and saw the river was now flowing across the road, gave it a try and took the car through very slowly, thought we had made it, as we turned the bend, it was all pretty hopeless as there was now no road at all, so we gingerly turned back through the flood and had to decide where to go next.
Decision made, it was Calke Abbey, National Trust in Derbyshire. One of my favourite sites. A drive over showed a lot of floods, i had not realised it was quite that bad!!
The driveway up to Calke Abbey is wonderful, makes you let out that nice long sigh for the beauty of nature.
Snowdrop were out
The deer were having a lazy time-i think we are all waiting for spring
All in all a most productive day, disappointment turning in happiness, things happens for a reason!!
